We checked out of our hotel and headed south for Lake Tahoe. We had heard Lake Tahoe is a beautiful area and a great place for winter sports when it snows. The drive was a great drive, very the rumours didn't let us down that this was a beautiful area to travel around, there was still some snow at the top of the mountains and lots of great places to stop off for photo opportunities.
After stopping for some lunch we reached the north part of the lake and drove down its east side - the state line cuts through the middle of the lake so at this point we are still in Nevada. We stopped at Zephyr Cove where we got on a tour of the lake on board the MS Dixie paddle boat. The 2 hour trip took us over the west side of the lake to Emerald Bay where we saw the emerald part of the lake, and a baby bald eagle in its nest!
After our trip we went and checked into our motel at South Lake Tahoe for the night and we crossed back into California. We went out for dinner and walked down to the lake just in time to miss the sunset!
The next day we had a little walk around the town before we headed off for Yosemite National Park. Lake Tahoe is clearly a beautiful area and would be great for some winter sports.
